Flagship Route Planner

The Great Circle Mapper is PilotHub's centerpiece — a fully-featured route planning tool with geodesic distance calculation, ETOPS coverage visualization, oceanic track overlays (NAT & PACOTS), and comprehensive route briefing generation.

How to Use

  1. Open the Great Circle tile (large 2×2 tile in the center of the home screen).
  2. Enter your departure and destination ICAO codes in the respective fields. The app auto-completes from the airport database.
  3. Optionally enter alternate airports and select your aircraft type for ETOPS calculations.
  4. Tap Calculate to see the great circle distance, estimated flight time, and route on the globe map.
  5. Enable ETOPS to see coverage circles drawn geodesically around your en-route alternates.
  6. Switch on NAT or PACOTS overlays to visualize active oceanic tracks (color-coded by direction).
  7. For multi-leg flights, increase the leg count (up to 3). Each leg gets its own departure, destination, alternates, and turnaround time.
  8. Tap Briefing to generate a full Route Briefing with Trip Summary, per-leg details, NOTAMs (time-window filtered per airport role), WX Charts, selectable Airport Charts, and satellite airport maps — exportable as a paginated A4 PDF.
  9. Use the ETP section to review Equal Time Points for one-engine-inoperative and depressurization scenarios.

Search over 70,000 airports by ICAO code, IATA code, name, or city. Each airport entry includes runway details (length, surface, orientation), elevation, frequencies, and location on a map.

How to Use

  1. Open Airport Search from the home screen.
  2. Type an ICAO code (e.g., LOWW), IATA code (e.g., VIE), airport name, or city into the search bar.
  3. Tap a result to view detailed airport information including runways, elevation, frequencies, and position on the map.
  4. From the airport detail view, access METAR/TAF weather, D-ATIS text, and active NOTAMs with 3-tier color coding and 16-category Q-code classification.
  5. Use the map view to explore airports visually with filtering options.

Forecast, METAR & Charts

Two-tab weather module combining station weather (METAR/TAF with D-ATIS) and a comprehensive aviation chart viewer (SIGWX, GFA, Fax Charts).

How to Use

  1. Open the Weather module and use the Station / Charts tab picker at the top.
  2. Station tab: Search for an airport by ICAO code. View the current METAR (raw or decoded), TAF forecast, and D-ATIS if available. Toggle between Pilot Mode (raw text) and Decoded view.
  3. Charts tab: Browse SIGWX (Significant Weather), GFA (Graphical Forecast Area), and aviation fax charts. Select region, level, and validity time to view the appropriate chart.
  4. Charts load via integrated web views for maximum resolution and can be zoomed/panned.
Refueling
Fuel Calculation

Calculate fuel requirements including uplift, with configurable density values and unit conversions. The integrated uplift calculator provides a quick arithmetic tool for fuel operations.

How to Use

  1. Open the Refueling module from the home screen.
  2. Enter your required fuel load and current fuel on board.
  3. Select fuel density (standard Jet-A1 or custom value) and your preferred units (kg, lbs, liters, US gallons).
  4. The app calculates the required uplift. Adjust threshold settings to set custom limits and alerts.
  5. Use the Uplift Calculator for quick fuel arithmetic with a dedicated keypad.

Seven Calculators in One

A digital E6B with seven calculation modes covering all essential in-flight computations — from wind correction to altitude conversions.

How to Use

  1. Open E6B and select a calculation mode from the button row: Wind, TAS, Fuel, Xwind, Hdg, Alt, or Time.
  2. Wind: Enter TAS, heading, wind direction and speed to get ground speed and wind correction angle.
  3. TAS: Enter CAS, altitude, and temperature to calculate True Airspeed.
  4. Fuel: Plan fuel burn by entering flow rate and time or distance.
  5. Xwind: Enter runway heading and wind to get headwind/crosswind components.
  6. Hdg: Calculate required heading given wind and desired track.
  7. Alt: Compute density altitude, pressure altitude, and true altitude from station parameters.
  8. Time: Calculate time, distance, or speed from any two known values.

How to Use

  1. Open Horizon — the attitude indicator activates using device sensors.
  2. Tilt your device to see the artificial horizon respond with pitch and roll.
  3. The compass rose below shows magnetic heading with a moving map of nearby airports.
  4. Speed and altitude tapes on the sides show GPS-derived values for reference.
  5. Enable HUD Mode to overlay the instruments on a live camera feed for a fun head-up display experience.
  6. The module auto-deactivates above 20 kts ground speed — this is a gadget, not a flight instrument.

Interactive RCAM (Runway Condition Assessment Matrix) for determining runway condition codes and braking action based on contamination type and coverage.

How to Use

  1. Open RCAM (presented as a sheet from the home screen).
  2. Select the runway contamination type (dry, wet, frost, ice, snow, slush, standing water, etc.).
  3. The matrix displays the corresponding RWYCC code and expected braking action.
  4. Use this during pre-flight to assess contaminated runway operations and crosscheck with SNOWTAM/NOTAM data.

Pavement Strength

Verify aircraft-pavement compatibility by comparing Aircraft Classification Numbers (ACN) against Pavement Classification Numbers (PCN). Updated for the ICAO TSPWG November 2024 schema.

How to Use

  1. Open ACN/PCN and enter your aircraft's ACN value or select from the database.
  2. Enter the runway PCN from the aerodrome chart or NOTAM.
  3. The module compares both values and indicates whether the aircraft can safely operate on that pavement.
  4. Review subgrade category, tire pressure category, and evaluation method for detailed analysis.
